Lamentations 3:21-23 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Every morning is a new day, a new chance, a time to remember God's faithfulness. Each and every day we can wake up knowing that God is good and faithful. And no matter what has happened in days past, He is still merciful and ready to forgive us. His love and mercy endure each and every day, and they never come to an end!
Think about this. How many times a day do you fail? How many times does your love run short? How often do you loose your temper? How often do you wish you would've been more faithful to Christ?
I know it's more times then I want it to be for me (with each of those answers)! But guess what?!?
God is faithful each and every day EVEN when we're not! His mercy is new every morning EVEN when the situation feels hopeless. God NEVER fails! God extends His love towards us every morning when He blesses us with another day, another chance, and breath in our lungs.
Lamentations was written, presumably, by Jeremiah during or after Jerusalem's fall into captivity. Even in the midst of these circumstances, Jeremiah had hope. "But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:" The whole book of Lamentations is lamenting over the fall of Jerusalem, but in the middle of the book we have these verses that cause Jeremiah to still hope in God.
Lamentations 3:21 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
God has given us the greatest hope of all: Christ! No matter what circumstance we are facing, we can call to mind the hope we have in Christ, His death, and His resurrection!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead . . . " -1 Peter 1:3
Great is Thy Faithfulness
"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousands beside
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
These lyrics remind us of the verses in Lamentations. They recently reminded me that even on tough days, or days were you just feel weary, God is STILL good and faithful. He is still merciful towards us. Every day is a reminder that God is faithful. He gives us everything we need. He doesn't withhold good from us. He sent His own Son to die for us! Why would He then withhold all that we truly need? He will remain faithful forever!
Lamentations 3:21-23 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Such a beautiful reminder! Great is His Faithfulness! And His mercies are new every morning!
