Everything starts at home

Lately it has felt like I've been stuck at home doing school and nothing super important. I feel like I should be doing something worthwhile that could change the world (or at least change one persons life). But I've been reading and realizing a lot that everything starts at home. Who we are at home is who we are, how we act at home impacts our attitude and personality, our relationships at home say how much we love God (1 John 4:20 If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.)  I've been reading A young woman after Gods own heart: a teens guide to friends, faith, family, and the future by Elizabeth George. I know who you are at home is who you are, so your attitude, relationships, and language at home matters. I've learned that in order to have a healthy relationship with your parents you need to be looking for opportunities to serve them  be in prayer for them. We also need to honor and respect them and  their decisions. And we need to love, get along with, and pray for our siblings. And if we have good relationships at home, then being home will be a lot easier because you'll be at home with your best friends. Also Romans 12:16 tells us to live in harmony with each other and verse 18 tells us to live peaceably with all.  One challenge it to see how much you have been showing love to your family (or friends) by reading 1 Corinthians 13 and see if you are showing true love. (Love is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not arrogant, not rude, not insisting on its own way, rejoices with truth, not irritable, not resentful, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, never ends.)

So even though me staying home isn't going to change the world or help and serve others outside of my house, it will give me time to learn and grow and help and serve my family. And learning to love, serve, care for, and honor others starts at home. It might seem insignificant to stay home and do school but sometimes that's right where God wants you. So I need to learn to trust that if God wants me here in this time frame, in this family, in this currant situation, then I need to trust Him and His timing. Isaiah 40:31 But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.  I need to wait on God and trust that His will, will be done. So in conclusion, even though it might not seem significant to stay home and do geometry, Gods timing is perfect and He doesn't make mistakes. He made you at the right time in the right place with the right people according to His plan and purpose (Proverbs 16:4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.) He never fails. You are not a mistake and you have a purpose. Our purpose in life is to honor and glorify God, and that starts at home!

How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1
